Further news on the Homebrew front. Did a Wherry yesterday and it is brewing away furiously tonight. Also bottled the Lager, more Choppers Larger for the summer months!
In the process of getting the summers beers sorted before the weather gets that little bit too warm to brew. Done a Geordie lager with Geordie beer enhancer (good olde wilko!) Beer enhancer is not like brewing sugar is it? I just threw it into 3 litres of warm water, caught the lovely aroma of Malt, looked down...... wheres me spoon!! Unless you stir it, spray malt, the principle ingredient of beer enhancer, lumps and clumps together. So after a good stir, nothing new there then, and adding the kit, job done. Did a yeast starter as well. I have always been reluctant to doing a yeast starter (this is when you add yeast to water before adding it to the brew. Two reasons, speeds up the "pitching" process, thats when the yeast starts to react with the fermentables to product aclohol, the second reason being to see if you have been given a duff yeast with the kit. Could you imagine going back to Wilkos Stretford to try and explain why the yeast is duff?) However yeast now pitched and brew to be left till next Wednesday. Thats the plan, but i have a new barrel and a Woodfordes Wherry kit in the post with another barrel! Does that give me Micro-brewery status if I have more than one barrel?

Just spent a lovely weekend in Magaluf with Mrs Chopper. The whole premise is so I could finally put a ring on her finger and get away from all those bad jokes about the only ring I could affrod is the one I Shit out of. We went to the Sol Antilles, best hotel on the island, got upgraded for nowt, and set about drinking the island dry. Mission not quite accomplished but had a great time. Linekers on Friday night, highly entertaining watching the arrows (UK Open) whilst propping up the bar. Mrs Doyles on saturday night was the highlight, Mick the fiddler the same as ever and the best pint of Guinness in the resort. Manos as always, Lisa found the greatest cocktail ever, "ps I love u" seems to sum up the weekend. Only bad point swordfish doesn't agree with me, or as Lisa said "its not the food, its the bottle of Schnapps you had before!"
